Amaro Afternoon with Loborn

On Sunday, 16th March, Bar Miette hosted an afternoon with the amaro experts from Loborn. Founder and head distiller Tom Drewett guided guests through the Tamborine Mountain distillery's craft — modern amaro that honours Italy's rich history and craftsmanship while infusing a distinctly Queensland flavour.

Once herbal elixirs brewed by medieval monks and later embraced by the avant-garde bars of Milan, these bitter-sweet spirits took on an Australian twist with Loborn's bold, contemporary amaro.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed tastings at the bar and an amaro-driven cocktail list, accompanied by a menu featuring pizza fritta with smoked scamorza and chicory, capocollo with grilled fennel and fried bread, and raw kingfish Siciliana.

The event was a celebration of tradition and innovation, leaving guests with a deeper appreciation for the art of amaro.
