Winemakers on the Terrace
On Wednesday 7th October, we're welcoming some of Australia's most celebrated winemakers to the Miette terrace.
From Tasmania, Gippsland and the Yarra Valley come Steve Flamsteed & Brad Rogers of Decades, Marcus Satchell of Dirty Three and Rob Hall of Rob Hall Wines — names behind some of the country's finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Meet the winemakers from 5pm and taste their personal favourites, all of which will be available to purchase by the glass or bottle. Guests will be among the first to try the 2025 vintages, with several being poured for the first time.
Wednesday is also burger night at Miette, and it will run as usual all evening, so you can stay for dinner and make a night of it.
Join us Wednesday 7th October, from 5pm. Bookings welcome, or simply walk in.
Steve Flamsteed, Decades - Coal River Valley, Tasmania
Steve has just been named Winemaker of the Year at the 2027 Halliday Wine Companion Awards, where Decades, the Tasmanian label he shares with Brad Rogers, also took out Best New Winery. He is widely recognised as one of Australia's best cool climate winemakers and an expert in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
After 17 years at the helm of Giant Steps, Steve and longtime friend Brad Rogers launched Decades in 2023. Steve was also the Wine Communicators of Australia's Victorian Legend of the Vine in 2019, and Australian Gourmet Traveller's Winemaker of the Year in 2016.
Marcus Satchell, Dirty Three Wines - Gippsland, Victoria
Marcus is currently Chair of Judges at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards, Australia's most prestigious wine show. Like his old friend Steve Flamsteed, he is a key member of the Australian wine industry, and he has played a significant role in shaping Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in his home region of Gippsland, helping establish it as a unique, world-class expression of both varieties.
Marcus was a winemaker at Dominique Portet and Bass Phillip before launching Dirty Three with his wife, Lisa Sartori, in 2012.
Rob Hall, Rob Hall Wines - Yarra Valley, Victoria
Raised in Healesville, Rob was destined for a life in wine. He learned the trade at Yarra Ridge and then Punt Road before becoming one of the Yarra's most respected winemakers.
In 2002, Rob was appointed head winemaker at famed producer Mount Mary, where he worked for 10 years before launching Rob Hall Wines in 2012. Today, Rob Hall Wines are renowned as some of the best value Chardonnay and Pinot Noir produced in Australia.
